What students do
- Listen to a short data set played as sound: pitch for value, time for sequence.
- Describe what they heard. Rising, repeating, a sudden drop.
- Build the graph from the same numbers and compare it to their description.
- Compose. Choose a data set, map it to sound, and play it for the class, who describe it back.
The "Four Chords" lesson inside the lab uses a familiar chord progression to show that a pattern can be recognized by ear before anyone writes it down.
What they learn
That data has shape, that the same shape can be seen and heard, and that choosing how to represent something (pitch, color, height) is a decision that changes what people notice.
